There is plenty of shade and sun here for all ages, but you might want to pack some water and a snack if you plan to stay a while.
The seaside playground features a play structure modeled after a famous lifeguard tower and whimsical depictions of tide pools. The park also includes public restrooms, nearby benches, and easy access to downtown. Dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash at all times.
Acushnet Creamery
On March 8, Acushnet Creamery will open its 15th season with new flavors, new employees, and plenty of eager customers. The creamery, owned by Doug and Donna Coray, and Jessica and Andrew Coray, will offer 75 varieties of homemade ice cream. There’s a new addition to the ice cream shop this year, too: additional freezer space. The shop will be open through December, so you can get your fix before summer ends.
Dartmouth’s Russell’s Mills Landing Park
Located on the scenic Slocum River, Russell’s Mills Landing Park is the perfect place for a picnic. The park features park benches, a playground, and canoe/kayak launching areas. It is also close to the Slocum River Reserve.
The park has been a favorite destination for residents for years. Recently, a new playground was opened at the park. This is part of an overall town effort to improve the area, including the tennis courts, boat launch facilities, and parking. Last year, town meetings approved $280,000 for the project.
